Long Beach Harbor From Palos Verdes
The Long Beach Harbor
From Rancho Palos Verdes
September 6, 2016
I was wandering around the top of the hills in Rancho Palos Verdes, just east of Marymount College at the top of Palos Verdes Drive (East). I stopped at a little deli for some ice tea and a piece of banana bread. Not far from the deli, the southern view from the tallest hill in Palos Verdes opened up. Down below me was the vast mechanical, industrial, and bridge works of the Long Beach Harbor. The sky was a bit hazy, but this was the clearest view I’ve encountered in several months. Unfortunately I only had my 300mm telephoto zoom (instead of my somewhat bulky 500mm f/8 reflex lens). But I include these images of the harbor, not as crisp as I would like, but sharp enough to show the industrial congestion of the massive harbor complex.
