Vines on Terracotta Wall
Redondo Beach, California
June 8, 2016
A bit farther up a back alleyway, I found a cluster of vivid leaves and, streaming out, the thin tentacles of wines making their way, millimeter by millimeter across a section of pitted, eggshell white concrete, bounded above by terracotta roofing tiles and below by the dull green cap piece of a small garage. I love the almost fractal nature of vines. I love their parse threads covered in many faceted leaves. I love the way vines snake across walls and fences as though they are conscious entities seeking kinship among the mixed flora of the world.
