Wall along Miami River
Wall along Miami River Normandy Isle September 9, 2012 This is the third in a series of images from south Florida, in particular, in and around Miami Beach where I once lived on a small island (Normandy Isle) in Biscayne Bay. I found this concrete and mortar wall standing by itself in a field of rubble, bricks, and shards of a second wall. The Miami River flowed slowly along about thirty feet to the east, past a line of old willow and lime and stubby palm trees growing above high weeds and trash. There’s particularly artistic or mesmerizing about this image, but I did find it intriguing: how long was it built? what was its original purpose?
